Many dream of moving to the United States of America for a better life, and better opportunities. Even if these may not be the reasons, they may simply be to experience what the country has to offer. Not many people actually think about what the land beneath their feet has gone through since its inception. Most people, including those born and raised as Americans, do not know their history. Therefore, this will be an educational trip down memory lane for everyone.
Believe it or not, there was a time when the great United States of America did not even exist. Instead, brazen English men decided to colonize the new world and, eventually, declared independence. This is the shortest version of the history we have all remembered since childhood. It did not happen so quickly, nor did everyone progress to live happily ever after in the state that America finds itself today; the greatest country in the world. There are many people whose names do not come up when we talk about US history. Some families have been here for ages before America was recognized as a separate state. Some families can trace their family name back through 300 years; others started their journey as farmers just before the revolutionary war. Farms were built just 30 miles east of Delaware. Due to constant work and labor, men were better built and had tons of stamina. This came in handy during the war to provide provisions for the continental army, earning them a considerable profit from that exchange. After that, these men were categorized as sympathizers of the revolutionary cause. When people saw the country’s progress, many did not care for farming anymore. Now, they only wanted to move to the city to earn a name.
Some families chose to leave that life behind and become prominent members of city society. As people rose through the ranks of this new world, they found themselves in high places. Some even became influential attorneys of their time, and future presidents recognized their talents. However, it is sad to see that whenever people value the efforts of those who did the grunt work on the pathway to success.
There’s a reason these individuals gave so much for a better tomorrow. However, that does not mean that most had no political influence to change the course and bring change through technology and development. They not only made sure that they made changes that affected not only them but their future generations. The America that we know today has been built by many unsung heroes. Although the people that are highlighted have contributed significantly, they have also been rewarded for their efforts by either money or fame. And above all, They made sure to leave tracks where their future generations could run on.
